This is an on-site position, working 40 hours per week from Tuesday to Saturday, with a salary of £55,000+, depending on experience. The role offers an opportunity to deliver patient care remotely while contributing to the assessment and coordination of ophthalmology referrals.
Job Overview
The successful candidate will be a qualified optometrist who is comfortable communicating with patients through telemedicine and working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team. The position combines patient consultations with referral triage and clinical support for the hub administration team.
About the Job
Your primary responsibility will be to communicate with and treat patients through telemedicine. You will also review incoming referrals from optometrists, GPs and other primary care routes, helping to direct each patient to the most appropriate ophthalmology clinic.
Working alongside experienced eye-care professionals, including ophthalmologists, you will provide clinical support to the hub administrative team when required. You will also work with the operations and clinical leads to identify opportunities to improve service delivery. The role spans a varied range of clinical eye-care services, with full training provided by experienced clinicians. Day-to-day support will come from the professional team in the clinic, with further guidance available from the Clinical Services team.
About the Employer

The role offers access to a modern working environment, ongoing training and development, and guidance from experienced optometrists and ophthalmologists. The available benefits include 33 days’ annual leave, a pension scheme, free eye tests and free laser eye and intraocular lens surgery. Employees can also access discounted eyewear, a friends and family discount scheme, exclusive offers, and employee assistance and wellbeing support.
What We Are Looking For
You will be a qualified optometrist, with the clinical judgement and communication skills to assess and treat patients through telemedicine. The role calls for someone who can review referrals from optometrists, GPs and other primary care routes, and determine the appropriate ophthalmology clinic for each patient.
You should be able to work constructively with ophthalmologists and other eye-care professionals, while also supporting administrative colleagues when needed. A collaborative approach will be important, as will the ability to work with operations and clinical leads to consider improvements to service delivery. Full role-specific training is provided.
