Job Overview
Flame Health Optometry has been instructed to recruit a qualified Optometrist for an independent practice covering South East and South West London.
The role offers a salary of up to £70,000, depending on experience, and would suit a GOC-registered optometrist looking to develop clinically in a relaxed practice environment.
About the Job
You will provide eye care for children and adults across two to three practices, with your rota shared in advance. Clinics allow 30–40 minutes for each sight test, with around eight to ten sight tests per day.
The practices are equipped with OCT, trial frames, Oculus fields and a Thompson test chart, and offer a selection of high-end frames.
You will work alongside qualified members of staff who can support you with optical matters. The role offers scope to develop your clinical practice, and MECS accreditation is preferred; if you are not currently accredited, you should be willing to complete the course.
Full‑time hours are preferred, although part‑time applicants will also be considered.
About the Employer
Our client is a well‑established independent optometry practice that has provided eye care for nearly half a century. Its services cater for both children and adults, and the practice is equipped to support a broad range of eye care needs.
The working environment is described as relaxed, with qualified colleagues available to offer support. The practice also stocks high‑end frames, alongside its clinical services.
What We Are Looking For
You must be a qualified Optometrist and registered with the General Optical Council. MECS accreditation would be an advantage; alternatively, you should be willing to undertake the course.
You will be comfortable providing sight tests within the clinic schedule and working across multiple practices as set out in an advance rota. Familiarity with the clinical equipment in use—including OCT, trial frames, Oculus fields and a Thompson test chart—will be relevant to the role.
The position could suit someone seeking clinical development within an established independent practice. Full‑time availability is preferred, but part‑time applications are welcome.
Who This Role Suits
This role may suit a GOC‑registered Optometrist who is looking to broaden their clinical experience in an independent practice and values access to support from qualified colleagues.
It offers a choice of full‑time or part‑time work, with MECS accreditation or a willingness to complete the course.
Job Location
The role covers practices in South East and South West London, with the rota provided in advance.
