Job Description
Our client, a well-established and highly regarded law firm, is seeking an experienced Compliance & Risk Officer to join their Taunton office.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a compliance professional to take ownership of a broad and varied remit.
The Role
Reporting into senior stakeholders within the firm, you'll play a key role in maintaining the firm's regulatory and risk standards, including:
- Acting as AML Officer for the firm
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with SRA regulations and the SRA Code of Conduct
- Managing external audits, including the firm's Lexcel accreditation
- Supporting ISO audits across multiple accreditations
- Maintaining and developing the firm's Operating Manual, policies, and Risk Registers
- Overseeing wider compliance documentation
- Line managing and developing a team member, with scope to develop into a Team Leader role in time
About You
- Demonstrable risk and compliance experience - ideally with at least 5 years in a similar role within legal services
- Essential: experience with Lexcel audits
- Desirable: experience across ISO accreditations
- Strong working knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct and regulatory framework
- Previous experience managing or leading a team would be highly advantageous
- A proactive, detail-focused approach with the confidence to take ownership of compliance processes
