Do you have experience handling complex travel insurance claims and supporting others to deliver outstanding customer service?

Our client, a dynamic and growing international insurance services company, is looking for a Senior Travel Claims Handler to join their friendly and collaborative team based in Cardiff (hybrid working available).

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and managing complex travel insurance claims and complaints, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policy terms and regulations
  • Providing operational and technical support to the wider claims team and assisting with day-to-day departmental activities
  • Carrying out quality checks, providing constructive feedback, and identifying training needs
  • Coaching and supporting colleagues to foster continuous learning and professional development
  • Acting as a role model and champion for process improvements and efficiency initiatives
  • Proactively managing caseloads to ensure service standards and deadlines are met
  • Negotiating and authorising settlements within agreed limits
  • Supporting audits, reporting, and departmental performance tracking
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Contributing positively to team meetings and one-to-one development discussions

About you

  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in a travel insurance claims role (essential)
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop others
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with customers, third parties, and colleagues
  • Highly organised, self‑motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making skills
  • Positive team player with a proactive approach to problem‑solving
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and comfortable working in a data‑driven environment
