Position Summary: We are seeking a Lead AI scientist who wants to leverage genomics data, artificial intelligence and other computational methods to identify new ways to treat human diseases. The candidate brings enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, scientific rigor, and a deep-rooted desire to innovate. This role is based in the vicinity of Cambridge UK and hybrid work arrangements will be considered, but all applicants will require permission to work in UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy computational methods, using AI/ML where appropriate, to further our scientific and therapeutic goals, both directly and via leading a small team.
- Lead a small team of AI/ML scientists and software developers.
- Collaborate with our wet lab team to tailor experimental design, particularly around image collection, for application of AI/ML and other computational methods.
- Collaborate with our data infrastructure team to ensure the data management framework is optimised for AI/ML applications.
- Be an active member of a scientific team focused on the design of histology and genomics experiments, with the end goal of developing new therapeutics for diseases with large unmet needs.
- Communicate key findings to stakeholders across the company, in written and presentation formats.
- Collaborate closely with other members across the organization.
Requirements:
- PhD in genomics, computational biology, or similar discipline is required.
- 3-7 years of industry experience applying AI/ML to genomics data and/or target discovery.
- Candidates with experience in (a) genomic data analysis, (b) target identification, and (c) designing new AI/ML approaches will be preferred.
- Strong leadership, management, and collaboration skills.
- High level of proficiency in writing python code or equivalent.
- Ability to work successfully in a matrix environment, prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, integrate cross-functional issues and balance competing priorities effectively.
- A high degree of energy, accuracy and attention to detail, and a passion for creating transformative medicines for patients with serious diseases.
