F&L Search is a specialist executive search firm focused on capital markets, working with leading hedge funds, investment banks, and independent research platforms on senior hires globally. The firm is led by its founder and operates at the senior end of the market, delivering mandates across macro strategy, equity strategy, data, and institutional distribution.
F&L Search is looking to hire an Associate to work directly with the founder on a range of high-profile, international searches.
The Role
This is a hands-on, high-exposure role supporting the delivery of senior search mandates, with responsibility from day one. The Associate will be involved across the full lifecycle of a search:
- Market mapping & research
- Building detailed maps of target teams across hedge funds, banks, and research firms
- Identifying and prioritising relevant talent pools globally (with a strong U.S. focus)
- Proactively identifying and engaging high-calibre candidates
- Running initial conversations to assess experience, motivations, and fit
- Candidate management
- Managing relationships throughout the process
- Maintaining high standards of communication and candidate experience
- Supporting the creation of high-quality candidate write-ups and search documentation
- Synthesising complex profiles into clear, commercially relevant insights
- Process execution
- Coordinating interviews and ensuring processes run efficiently
- Managing multiple live mandates simultaneously
- Developing a deep understanding of the macro / strategy / research landscape
- Contributing insights to ongoing client conversations
This role will involve direct interaction with senior candidates (often at VP, Director, and MD level) early on.
Candidate Profile
Experience
- 6 months to 3 years' experience in recruitment, sales, or a similar commercial role
- Experience in financial services or exposure to capital markets is advantageous
Communication
- Confident speaking with senior professionals
- Able to structure conversations and extract relevant information quickly
Execution
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable managing multiple workstreams at pace
- Strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics, and investment strategy
- Motivated to develop genuine market expertise over time
Mindset
- High ownership mentality and willingness to take responsibility early
- Comfortable working in a small, high-performance environment
- Understanding (or strong interest in understanding) how a search business operates
Based in London, 3-4 days per week in the office, working closely with the founder. High level of autonomy and direct exposure to live mandates.
