We are partnering with a leading professional membership and qualifications organisation to recruit a Head of Accounts & Business Development to lead relationships with some of its most strategically important employers and partners. This is a senior commercial leadership role, responsible for managing and growing relationships with priority accounts including top professional services firms, large corporates, and major employers. The postholder will lead a high-performing team focused on deepening engagement, driving growth, and delivering a consistently high-quality client experience.
The role
Reporting into the senior leadership team within Regions & Business Development, you will be responsible for overseeing strategic account management and new business development activity across a defined portfolio of key clients. You will shape and deliver account strategies, identify growth opportunities, and ensure a coordinated, organisation-wide approach to maximising value, influence, and long-term partnerships. You will also play a key role in driving new business growth, particularly within employer-led training and development.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop strategic relationships with priority accounts, including major professional services firms and large employers
- Deliver budgeted intake targets and grow market share across key client accounts
- Drive new business growth and contribute to employer-focused growth strategies
- Identify and pursue expansion opportunities within existing accounts, including training and wider professional services
- Develop and execute tailored engagement plans for the organisation’s largest and most influential clients
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, working closely with colleagues across membership, learning, technology, and executive teams
- Track, analyse, and share insights from key accounts to inform broader relationship and business development strategy
- Ensure a best-in-class client experience through effective cross-functional collaboration
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team, embedding a culture of high performance
About you
You will be a commercially minded leader with a strong track record in B2B business development and strategic account management, ideally within professional services, education, or a regulated membership environment. You will bring:
- Extensive experience in senior B2B business development or key account leadership roles
- Strong commercial acumen, with proven success in sales, negotiation, and contract management
- Experience building long-term, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
- Demonstrable success leading teams to meet and exceed ambitious targets
- Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-management skills
- A strong understanding of the professional services, accountancy, or finance sector
