IPREg - Data and Evidence Analyst

The organisation Our client is the Intellectual Property Regulation Board (‘IPReg’), the independent regulatory body of Patent Attorneys and Trade Mark Attorneys. IPReg oversees the qualification and ongoing professional standards of Patent Attorneys and Trade Mark Attorneys, including education and training, firm registration and licensing, continuous professional development, professional conduct, and disciplinary processes. We are delighted to be partnering with IPReg to recruit a newly created Data and Evidence Analyst role.

The role This is far more than a traditional data analyst position. IPReg already holds a wealth of regulatory, compliance and operational data, but they recognise there is untapped value within that information. They also know there are important questions about consumers, the market and future regulatory risks that they cannot yet answer with confidence. Working closely with the Deputy CEO, and the leadership team, you will help IPReg better understand the data the organisation already holds, identify gaps in its evidence base, uncover emerging trends and risks, and provide the insight needed to support future policy and regulatory decisions. You will play a key role in implementing IPReg's emerging data strategy, improving data quality and governance, developing regulatory intelligence, and helping the organisation move from a reactive to a proactive approach to regulation. IPReg is looking for someone naturally curious, comfortable with ambiguity and confident working in a developing environment. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys asking questions, connecting disparate information, spotting patterns and helping an organisation understand not just what is happening now, but what may happen next.

Key facts Location: Hybrid – Home based combined with minimum 50% office attendance (London EC1A 7DH). Salary range: £55,000 - £60,000 p.a. depending on experience + benefits (including 25 days’ paid holiday a year + 8 bank holidays + Christmas closure from the end of the last working day before Christmas until the first working day of the New Year; Life Insurance; Company Sick Pay and Health Cash Plan)

Key areas of responsibility:

• Support delivery of IPReg's emerging Data Strategy;
• Analyse regulatory, compliance and operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities;
• Improve data quality, governance and reporting capabilities;
• Develop dashboards, reports and management information for senior stakeholders and the Board;
• Support compliance monitoring, assurance activities and thematic reviews;
• Undertake horizon scanning and evidence gathering to inform policy development;
• Identify and explore new internal and external data sources;
• Translate complex analysis into clear recommendations and actionable insights.

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Experience analysing and interpreting data to support decision-making;
• Experience working with data quality, reporting, governance or compliance processes;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to communicate findings clearly to senior stakeholders;
• Experience using Excel and business reporting tools;
• Strong written communication skills and ability to produce high-quality reports;
• Strong application of data protection and information governance principles;
• Understanding of data issues relating to diversity, equity and inclusion, including the responsible interpretation and use of demographic and equality-related data.

Desirable knowledge and experience:

• Experience within a regulator, public body, professional services or legal environment;
• Knowledge of regulatory assurance, compliance monitoring and/or supervision;
• Experience developing dashboards and performance reporting frameworks;
• Experience supporting evaluation or impact assessment activity;
• Familiarity with AI-enabled analytical tools and data management technologies;
• Awareness of the Legal Services Act regulatory framework and Right-Touch Regulation principles.
