Contract: 2-year full time (6 month probation), with possibility of extension

FjordStrong is a growing and ambitious marine environmental consultancy that specialises in delivering a range of non-destructive video based surveys and data analysis aimed at conservation efforts and sustainable development. With active projects spanning MPA monitoring, ORE assessments and conservation research, our project pipeline and team is growing.

We are seeking a Senior Consultant to join us in a hands-on, senior role. This role will primarily be split between managing a 2-year multidisciplinary marine survey and helping build new projects for the company. This is a hybrid role combining at sea surveys, data reporting, client liaison, and strategic development, with potential to leverage your prior experience to pursue new opportunities across a range of sectors and topics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and delivery of marine surveys, using non-destructive survey methods (mainly stereo-BRUVs, ROVs and eDNA)
  • Manage and analyse ecological data, producing high-quality technical reports
  • Identify and explore new project opportunities leveraging your experience and network
  • Support grant writing, tender responses, and funding applications
  • Represent the company professionally across the marine and offshore sectors
Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Marine Ecology or a closely related discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in marine surveying, consenting, marine environmental policy or similar marine consultancy positions
  • Practical, proactive, and capable of independent decision-making
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and ability to identify and pursue new opportunities
  • Legal right to work in the UK and Ireland
  • Full UK/Irish driving licence
Highly Desirable
  • Experience with offshore wind farm consenting, EIAs, or post-consent monitoring
  • Experience with MPA monitoring or government-funded environmental projects
  • Hands-on experience with BRUVs or similar survey techniques
  • Familiarity with UK, Irish or wider EU marine policy, regulatory frameworks, and commercial landscape
  • Existing professional network in marine, offshore energy, or environmental sectors
  • Experience working in small consultancies or start-ups
  • Up to date STCW-1 and ENG-1
