Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bristol. The Job Title will contribute to the delivery of rail and transportation engineering design projects, supporting multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with engineers and technicians across relevant disciplines. Daily responsibilities may include preparing and reviewing design documentation, assisting with calculations and technical analyses, coordinating with project managers, and supporting risk reduction during the design process. The role will involve adherence to industry standards and internal quality procedures, participation in design reviews, and engagement with clients and partners to ensure clear communication of technical information. The Job Title will also be expected to support innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement in project delivery.
Qualifications
- Relevant technical skills in rail and civil engineering design (e.g., experience with structures, civils, geotechnics, or M&E) and the ability to contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
- Proficiency with engineering design and collaboration software (e.g., BIM tools such as Bentley OpenBuilding Designer, ProjectWise, or similar platforms) and strong digital documentation skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment abilities, with a focus on developing buildable and safe engineering solutions.
- Understanding of sustainable and low-carbon design principles, and interest in applying tools and methodologies that support environmental performance.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in project teams and engage constructively with clients and partners.
- Relevant formal qualification in engineering or a related discipline (e.g., degree or equivalent), and progress toward or interest in professional accreditation (e.g., IEng, CEng) is beneficial.
- Previous experience in the rail or wider transportation sector, or a strong interest in developing expertise in these areas, is an advantage.
