This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled quality professional with strong experience in structural steelwork and welding quality management. You will play a key role in ensuring that all products, processes, and procedures meet strict quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. Working closely with both production and management teams, you will maintain and continually improve the company’s Quality Management System and ensure full compliance with relevant industry codes and standards.
Duties
- Maintain and continuously improve the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Oversee quality control for structural steelwork fabrication in a workshop environment
- Ensure full compliance with EN 1090 up to Execution Class 3 (EXC3), including Factory Production Control (FPC) and welding quality management
- Act as the company’s Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) in accordance with ISO 3834‑2
- Maintain and update WPQRs, WPS, and associated welding documentation
- Manage welder qualification testing and maintain records in accordance with EN ISO 9606
- Coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and ensure complete traceability
- Represent the company during client quality meetings and liaise with notified bodies during audits
- Compile and manage LTQRs, project quality documents, and site quality packs
- Raise, manage, and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and issue Notices of Inspection (NOIs)
- Conduct internal and supplier audits for ISO 9001 and EN 1090 compliance
- Provide technical support and guidance to workshop and site teams, including assistance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
- Ensure all work complies with industry standards, project specifications, and legal requirements for structural steelwork up to EXC3
Skills
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in structural steelwork or fabrication
- Strong understanding of welding and fabrication processes, with experience preparing and inspecting LTQRs
- CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 Welding Inspector certification
- Proven experience as an RWC in line with ISO 3834‑2 and EN 1090
- Good working knowledge of NDT techniques, welding codes, and construction standards
- Experience conducting ISO 9001 and EN 1090 audits
- Confident liaising with clients, subcontractors, notified bodies, and project teams
- Highly organised with excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
