The Engineering department supports product development, manufacturing improvement and the control of engineering information across the business. The department plays a key role in ensuring that engineering designs are practical, controlled and aligned with operational requirements.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new role within our Engineering team. Reporting to the Head of Engineering Projects, the Engineering Technician will assist with routine and reactive maintenance, support equipment modifications, contribute to installation and commissioning work and help deliver practical improvements across manufacturing processes and site infrastructure.
The role requires a capable and practical engineering professional who is comfortable working in a live manufacturing environment, able to support hands-on technical tasks, and willing to work across a broad range of engineering activities rather than within a narrow specialism.
Experience in electrical fault diagnosis, equipment installation and the use of maintenance systems is preferred, along with exposure to automation and a relevant engineering qualification.
Key responsibilities:
- Support planned and reactive maintenance activities across production equipment and site infrastructure.
- Assist with fault finding, repair and improvement of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Support equipment installation, relocation, commissioning and modification activities.
- Assist with automation and production engineering projects, including equipment upgrades and process improvements.
- Support practical engineering tasks relating to guarding, safety improvements, machine access, layouts and production support requirements.
- Work closely with engineering, production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment is safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
- Assist with investigation and resolution of production equipment issues, including root-cause analysis and practical corrective actions.
- Support contractor and supplier activity where required, including installation, service and improvement works.
- Carry out basic fabrication, fitting, assembly, adjustment or modification tasks where appropriate and within competence.
- Support the development and improvement of planned preventative maintenance activity, maintenance records and engineering job tracking.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities focused on reliability, maintainability, safety, efficiency and operational performance.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards and ensure work is carried out safely, professionally and in line with site requirements.
