The Qualified Supervisor – Peabody Maintenance is the technical authority responsible for ensuring all Non EICR maintenance activities under Lot 3 of the Peabody Term Programme are completed safely, compliantly and in accordance with applicable legislation, standards, client requirements and company procedures. Reporting to the Peabody Maintenance Contracts Manager, the post-holder provides technical leadership, supervision and competency oversight to Site Supervisors, Engineers, Specialist Operatives and Specialist Subcontractors delivering Emergency Lighting, Portable Appliance Testing (PAT), Lightning Protection Systems (LPS), Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, Height Safety Systems and associated remedial works.
The Supervisor is accountable for technical compliance, certification quality, engineer and subcontractor competency, audit performance and maintenance standards across all disciplines within the Peabody planned and reactive maintenance portfolio. The role acts as the primary technical escalation point for maintenance compliance matters and supports the successful delivery of statutory compliance obligations across the contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct line and people management of Site Supervisors, Engineers and Specialist Operatives.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching and mentoring, and support career development pathways.
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of Engineers and specialist subcontractors undertaking planned maintenance, inspections, testing, reactive repairs and remedial works.
- Support the Contract Manager in the delivery of contractual compliance programmes.
- Conduct regular site inspections, quality checks and post-inspections to verify workmanship, technical compliance and adherence to company standards.
- Lead the day-to-day supervision of specialist security subcontractors.
- Review subcontractor RAMS, competency records, training records and site documentation to ensure compliance prior to works commencing.
- Provide technical oversight, guidance and quality assurance across all maintenance compliance disciplines.
- Review and provide technical guidance on remedial works arising from Fire Risk Assessments (FRA).
- Support the implementation of safe systems of work.
- Provide technical support, coaching and guidance to engineers and improvers.
- Support the onboarding and technical approval of specialist subcontractors.
- Monitor subcontractor performance, quality, compliance and certification standards.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex maintenance compliance issues.
- Identify technical skills gaps, performance issues, quality concerns and competency deficiencies.
- Develop and deliver technical training programmes, toolbox talks and competency workshops.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable statutory obligations.
- Monitor engineer productivity, utilisation and work quality.
- Support the delivery of satisfactory PPM outcomes.
- Discharge supplier-side Principal Contractor duties under CDM 2015.
- Liaise with residents, client representatives and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Carry out electrical testing, inspection, installation and maintenance works as required.
- Ensure all documentation, job records, photographs and certification information are completed accurately.
- Review and approve certification, inspection reports, maintenance records and associated documentation.
- Ensure safe working procedures in accordance with the current health and safety regulations.
- Prepare quotations and variations and liaise with suppliers.
- Support investigation and resolution of technical escalations, defects, complaints, incidents and non-conformances.
- Ensure personal CPD and CPD for direct reports is kept up to date and recorded.
- Support business improvement initiatives and contribute to the achievement of operational, quality and compliance objectives.
Required Qualifications
- City and Guilds NVQ level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification or equivalent AM2 practical assessment.
- Completed apprenticeship.
- City and Guilds 2391-51 or equivalent.
- City and Guilds 2382-18 – BS7671 18th Edition update.
- Demonstrable experience operating as a Qualified Supervisor within an NICEIC, NAPIT or equivalent accredited environment.
- Detailed working knowledge of BS 7671, Electrical Safety Standards Regulations and EICR processes.
- Experience supervising electrical testing engineers and reviewing certification.
- Strong IT skills, including client portals, mobile workforce systems, certificate-management software and Microsoft 365.
Preferred Qualifications
- SMSTS and IOSH Managing Safely (or NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate).
