Bromley Council is seeking an experienced Funding and Operations Officer to support the assessment and processing of Discretionary Housing Payments. The successful candidate must have direct experience assessing DHP applications and should be confident reviewing financial circumstances, housing costs and supporting information to make accurate and defensible decisions. Experience using the Academy system to process Housing Benefit or Discretionary Housing Payments is strongly required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess applications for Discretionary Housing Payments
- Process Housing Benefit and DHP cases using the Academy system
- Review financial hardship, housing costs and supporting evidence
- Maintain accurate records and case documentation
- Provide clear advice and guidance to applicants regarding housing support
- Ensure decisions are made in line with policies, procedures and relevant guidance
- Work accurately to deadlines and manage a caseload effectively
- Liaise with internal teams and applicants where required

- Experience assessing Discretionary Housing Payments
- Experience using Academy for Housing Benefit or DHP processing
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer service skills

- Able to work onsite in Bromley initially

- Ability to work from home 2 days per week after the initial onsite period
