Role: Slitting Operator

Pay: £13.00 per hour rising to £15.06 per hour after 12 weeks

Working hours: 12 hour shifts both days and nights (7am-7pm / 7pm-7am). Various shift patterns, rotating days and nights, rota will be provided for the whole year.

Location: Crewe, CW1

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate slitting machines according to job specifications and production schedules.
  • Monitor slitting equipment during operation to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
  • Load and unload rolls of material using hoists or lift equipment.
  • Measure and inspect finished rolls for width, cut accuracy, and material integrity.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments to maintain machine efficiency.
  • Record production data, including material usage, output, and waste.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and procedures.
  • Communicate any equipment issues or material inconsistencies to the supervisor.
  • Assist with machine maintenance and cleaning during scheduled downtime.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally 1-2 years of experience operating slitting machines, preferably in flexible packaging or converting industries.
  • Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, artwork, and production specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-orientated environment.
