Scope of the role:
- The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Design & develop new mechanisms & machine systems to support project requirements.
- Adaptation of existing designs where required to support customer specifications.
- Supporting downstream departments to execute new/existing designs including identifying opportunities for design improvement/value engineering.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Design & detailing of new components, mechanisms & systems.
- Development of new processes including the use of new materials.
- Development of existing components/designs.
- Issuing of machine parts on SAP in accordance with machine delivery schedules.
- Supporting assembly/manufacturing in building/commissioning machines.
- Liaising with the Sales team to provide support for technical bids.
- Creating customer documentation and creating/maintaining records to Fives Landis or customer's own standards.
- Understand, and work at all times in line with Fives Values and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested.
Key Skills Requirements:
- Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Previous CAD experience preferable, ideally Siemens NX.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel etc.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings.
- Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently.
- Ability to work with various departments and with people at all levels of the company.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
