As part of a multi-functional, highly skilled, and flexible team, the Machine Shop Grinder is a hands-on role, responsible for producing parts to fulfil Assembly, Aftermarket and Spares requirements. Shift flexibility is vital to fulfil business needs.
Responsibilities
- Operate a Waldrich Coburg Large Surface Grinder (Siemens 840D control) ensuring consistent high quality production of critical components.
- Producing complex components to drawing specification ranging in size from 25kg up to 12000kg.
- Work from and interpret engineering drawings to ensure parts are produced to drawing specification.
- Apply knowledge of material characteristics and machining methods to ensure optimal productivity.
- Work with minimal supervision and plan workload effectively to achieve production targets.
- Foster a βRight First Timeβ mindset in a quality driven environment.
- Understand, and work always, in line with Fives Values and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.
Technical Competencies Required
- Experience in operating a medium to large surface grinder is preferred, however, training will be provided to the successful candidate.
- Setting of components, composite grinding wheels, jigs and fixtures.
- Proficient in the use of measuring equipment to maintain drawing specifications.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Manufacturing components to achieve critical geometrical tolerancing and ensuring product conformity.
- Time served apprenticeship certification.
