The role involves delivering targeted Speech and Language interventions to individuals and small groups, working closely with the SEND team, teaching staff and Speech and Language Therapists to help pupils develop skills and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver speech and language interventions to individuals and small groups, following programmes set by the Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Support pupils with communication, language development, social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, adapt support where appropriate and feed back to the SEND team.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to ensure consistent support for pupils.

What We're Looking For

  • HLTA status or significant experience in a similar role within a school.
  • Experience supporting children with speech, language and communication needs, SEND or Autism.
  • A patient, proactive, nurturing approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence working independently while contributing positively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Essential Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK – no sponsorship or Skilled Worker visas accepted.
  • Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years).
  • Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.*
  • If you do not have a Non‑Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will assist with processing a new one at a cost of £62.70, which will be refunded after 20 days of work.
  • What Five Education can offer you
  • Free specialised training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, PMLD/SLD Awareness, and Autism Awareness.
  • Free DBS (refunded when you work 20 days).
  • A friend referral bonus scheme.
  • Specialist support and mentoring throughout your placement.

Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; the pay rate includes holiday pay and is transparent with no hidden fees.

Vetting: Successful applicants will undergo reference checks, TRA checks and a DBS. An interview will also be conducted.

We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds.
