Five Education is working with a supportive and inclusive primary school in South Bristol to recruit a SEN Learning Support Partner. This role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil whose needs stem from trauma and present with ASC characteristics. The school is dedicated to creating a nurturing, trauma-informed environment where every child feels safe, understood, and able to succeed.
The Role Responsibilities
- You will play a vital role in helping the child regulate emotions, build trust, and engage positively with learning.
- Providing consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child's individual needs.
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management using a trauma-informed approach.
- Implementing structured routines and personalised strategies.
- Building a safe, trusting relationship with the pupil.
- Supporting engagement with learning activities inside and outside the classroom.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff.
About You
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice or willingness to learn.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Resilient and adaptable in a dynamic classroom environment.
- Experience working with SEN, ASC, or children with additional emotional needs is desirable but not essential.
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant are beneficial.
