Psychology Graduate – SEMH Learning Partner
Location: Bristol Start Date: September 2026 Pay: £90–£100 per day Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and motivated individual to work on a 1:1 basis with a primary-aged pupil in a supportive Bristol school from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Teaching, Speech and Language Therapy, Mental Health, or Social Work.
Role
As a 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with a primary-aged pupil.
- Support the child's emotional regulation and social development.
- Help the pupil access learning within the classroom.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and work alongside the class teacher and SENCO.
- Provide consistent encouragement and reassurance throughout the school day.
- Support the development of confidence, self-esteem, and independence.
- Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals where required.
- Ideal Candidate
- Holds a degree in Psychology or a related subject.
- Has a genuine interest in SEN, SEMH, and child development.
- Is patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient.
- Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Understands behaviour as a form of communication.
- Is able to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
- Previous experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals is desirable but not essential.
Essential Criteria
- Able to work 5 days a week (term time only), Monday-Friday 8:30-15:30
- Right to work in the UK – we cannot accept sponsorship or a skilled worker visa
- Minimum two recent references, covering the last two years
- Up-to-date DBS/police check, or be willing to obtain one
- Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70.
This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
