We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic learning support assistant to work with children at a lovely mainstream primary school near Keynsham. This role will involve working closely with students who have additional needs, such as ASC, ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, or SEMH challenges. You may sometimes be providing one-to-one support for a specific child and at other times be working more generally across the classroom to help all students access the curriculum. Patience, flexibility and strong communication skills are key, as is a genuine desire to make a positive impact on children's learning and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Support students 1:1 or in small groups, adapting tasks to meet their individual needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to provide consistent support
  • Help students develop confidence, communication skills and independence
  • Ensure students are safe and supported during play and lunchtime

Essential Criteria

  • Empathetic, patient and passionate about supporting children
  • Available to work full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30‑15:30 (term-time only)
  • Right to work in the UK – we are unable to offer sponsorship or accept Skilled Worker visas
  • Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years)
  • Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one*
  • Willing to process a new DBS if not already on the Update Service (cost £62.70, refunded after 20 days of work)
