About the Event
Five Sisters Zoo’s FSZ Illuminations x Blachere is set to return this winter in collaboration with lighting experts at Blachere Illumination. Expect a captivating display of colour, light, and festive charm throughout selected evenings in November and December 2025.
Role Overview
We’re seeking an experienced and hands-on Project Manager with strong electrical skills to lead the planning, installation, and safe uninstallation of lighting throughout the park. This is a temporary, contract role (September–December 2025) and will require evening and weekend availability to align with event timings. The successful candidate will also be on call during the festive period to manage maintenance and troubleshooting of the installation and will play a key role in delivering the highly anticipated Switch-On Event.
Responsibilities
- Lead coordination and project planning for the installation of festive lighting across designated park areas.
- Hands-on electrical work, ensuring safety, compliance, and aesthetic excellence in light installations.
- Schedule and manage fits and derigs in line with event dates and zoo operations.
- Work closely with the Blachere lighting team and zoo staff, ensuring seamless integration of creative vision and operational feasibility.
- Oversee on-site implementation, troubleshooting in real time, and guaranteeing high-quality displays.
- Manage maintenance and troubleshooting of the installations throughout the festive period.
- Play a lead role in organising and delivering the official Switch-On Event.
- Manage health and safety compliance, including electrical safety protocols and public safety considerations.
- Coordinate logistics, including procurement, equipment rental, installation timelines, and team briefs.
Schedule & Duration
- Contract Period: September to December 2025
- Working Hours: Full time, with required flexibility for evenings and weekends
- Event Schedule:
- November: Fri 21st, Sat 22nd, Sun 23rd, Fri 28th, Sat 29th, Sun 30th (5pm–9pm)
- December: Wed–Sun from the 3rd to 23rd (4pm–9pm)
- Includes ASN evening: Tues 9th
- Extended opening: Mon 22nd & Tues 23rd
- On-call availability expected during the entire festive period
About You
- Qualified Electrician with valid certification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Proven experience managing lighting or infrastructure projects—preferably in events, outdoor installations, or seasonal setups
- Capable of planning, coordinating logistics, and working under tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; confident leading mixed teams and coordinating with external partners
- Excellent understanding of health & safety, particularly electrical safety in public settings
- Flexible availability for evenings and weekends, including on-call responsibilities during the event period
