Foster Care Line is seeking a committed and child‑centred Vice Panel Chair to support our Fostering Panel in Ellesmere Port. As part of Five Rivers Child Care, we are dedicated to providing high‑quality, therapeutic care that puts children and young people at the heart of everything we do.
As the Vice Panel Chair, you will work closely with the Panel Chair and panel members to ensure the smooth, fair and effective operation of our fostering panel. You will help guide discussions, support decision‑making, and contribute to recommendations on:
- The suitability of applicants to foster
- The ongoing approval of foster carers
- Policy and procedural matters relating to fostering practice
- Ensuring diversity, inclusion and anti‑discriminatory practice remain central to all decisions
This role requires someone who is able to remain child‑focused at all times, keeping the best interests of children and young people at the forefront of panel activity. You will also step in for the panel chair if needed.
We seek someone who:
- Has strong personal and/or professional experience relevant to fostering or working with children and young people
- Is confident supporting complex discussions and collective decision‑making
- Works effectively as part of a team
- Understands the importance of safeguarding, empathy, and best outcomes for children
- May have experience within the fostering or children’s sector (advantageous but not essential)
- Does not require formal social work qualifications, but must have insight, understanding and sensitivity toward fostering work
