Health and Safety Adviser Location: Northumberland travel across the North East required] Salary: Β£ 43,282 Hours: 9am - 4pm Contract Type: Permanent Recruiter: Five Point Recruitment About the Role Five Point Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Adviser to join their Health and Safety Team. Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety, you will help deliver high standards of occupational health and safety across the organisation. You will provide practical advice, undertake audits and inspections, support accident investigations and work closely with colleagues and contractors to promote a positive and compliant safety culture. This is a varied role covering social housing, construction and estate management activities. It would suit an accomplished health and safety professional who can manage multiple workstreams, communicate complex information clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels. Key Responsibilities Deliver health and safety objectives and projects in accordance with the Health and Safety Teams annual plan. Advise managers, colleagues and contractors on health and safety legislation, compliance and best practice. Review health and safety arrangements, policies, procedures and safe working practices. Conduct inspections and audits of workplaces, activities, plant and equipment. Monitor contractors and support compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations. Produce audit action plans, follow up outstanding actions and attend client and contractor progress meetings. Support managers with risk assessments and the development of safe systems of work. Investigate accidents, incidents and potentially reportable RIDDOR events. Develop and deliver engaging health and safety training and guidance. Maintain accurate health and safety records, analyse performance data and prepare reports. Provide health and safety advice during contractor selection and procurement processes. Complete individual workplace assessments, including DSE, hearing and vision assessments. Support health-surveillance activities, including HAVS monitoring. Help colleagues return to work safely following an absence or injury. Research changes to legislation, regulation and industry best practice, recommending improvements where appropriate. Build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent the Health and Safety Team at meetings. Deputise for the Head of Health and Safety when required and within your area of competence. Essential Requirements NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent qualification. Commitment to working towards the NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent higher-level qualification. Proven experience working as a Health and Safety professional. Strong auditing experience, including preparing and maintaining audit action plans. Experience coordinating multiple workstreams and delivering projects from start to finish. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practice. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to engage, advise and influence colleagues, managers and contractors. Good report-writing, numeracy and data-analysis skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines. Confidence working independently and taking accountability for your work. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. Desirable Requirements NEBOSH Construction Certificate. Membership of a relevant professional body. Evidence of continuing professional development. Experience within social housing, construction or estate management. Experience developing and delivering engaging health and safety training. Knowledge of specialist areas such as COSHH and advanced workstation assessments.
