Health & Safety Enforcement Officer / Environmental Health Officer Location: Brent Pay Rate: £32.00 - £36.00 per hour (DOE) Contract: Temporary Contract Hours: Full Time | Monday to Friday Our Local Authority client is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Enforcement Officer / Environmental Health Officer to join their Regulatory Services team on a temporary basis. This role will focus on delivering statutory Health & Safety interventions, investigations and enforcement activities , ensuring businesses comply with current legislation and supporting the protection of employees, residents and the wider community. You will manage a varied caseload involving workplace inspections, accident investigations, complaints, RIDDOR notifications and formal enforcement action, while providing professional advice and guidance to businesses. Key Responsibilities Carry out Health & Safety inspections, interventions and compliance visits in line with statutory requirements and service priorities. Investigate health and safety complaints, workplace incidents and RIDDOR notifications . Prepare inspection reports, investigation records, witness statements and supporting documentation for legal proceedings where required. Issue statutory notices and take proportionate enforcement action in accordance with relevant legislation and enforcement policies. Provide technical advice and guidance to businesses, employers and members of the public. Maintain accurate case management records and ensure statutory deadlines and performance targets are achieved. Work collaboratively with colleagues across Environmental Health, Regulatory Services and partner agencies. A recognised professional qualification allowing you to undertake Health & Safety interventions , such as a Diploma, BSc or MSc in Environmental Health, NEBOSH, or equivalent qualification . A strong working knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety legislation, enforcement procedures and regulatory frameworks . Previous experience investigating health and safety complaints, workplace incidents and RIDDOR notifications . Experience undertaking enforcement action, preparing evidence and supporting legal proceedings. Strong investigation, report writing and communication skills. Previous experience working within a Local Authority Environmental Health, Regulatory Services or Health & Safety enforcement team is highly desirable. 32.00 - £36.00 per hour (depending on experience) ?
