Income Maximisation Officer
Location: Brent
Pay Rate: Β£28.19 per hour
Contract: Temporary Contract
Hours: Full Time | Monday to Friday
DBS: Basic DBS Required
We are recruiting for an experienced Income Maximisation Officer to join a Local Authority Housing Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximising rental income through effective rent collection, arrears management, welfare benefits advice and proactive support to tenants across a range of housing portfolios and tenures.
This is a customer-focused role requiring someone who can balance effective income recovery with a supportive, person-centred approach to tenants who may be experiencing financial difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage rent arrears cases and ensure rent is paid and arrears are reduced through effective income recovery procedures.
- Provide advice and assistance to tenants regarding welfare benefits, Universal Credit and Housing Benefit.
- Carry out home visits and face-to-face engagement with tenants and customers experiencing rent arrears.
- Work closely with Housing Needs, Housing Management, Adult Social Care and other partner services to maximise household income.
- Support the letting and sign-up process to ensure rent is received from day one.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain detailed records relating to arrears and income recovery.
- Reconcile closed accounts and ensure Housing Benefit is correctly allocated.
- Monitor and manage Housing Benefit overpayments, customer credits and former tenant arrears.
- Attend court hearings and evictions where required.
- Promote Direct Debits and online services to encourage effective payment and channel shifting. xgikmsk
