Psychology Graduate SEMH Learning Partner
Role Overview
2.0 Provide a one‑to‑one support partnership with a primary‑aged pupil in a Bristol school from September.
Responsibilities
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
- Support the child’s emotional regulation and social development.
- Help the pupil access learning within the classroom.
- Implement behaviour support strategies in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
- Provide consistent encouragement and reassurance throughout the school day.
- Support the development of confidence, self‑esteem and independence.
- Work closely with teaching staff, parents and external professionals where required.
- Ideal Candidate
- Holds a degree in Psychology or a related subject.
- Has genuine interest in SEN, SEMH and child development.
- Is patient, empathetic and emotionally resilient.
- Has strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Understands behaviour as a form of communication.
- Is able to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
- Previous experience with children, young people or vulnerable individuals is desirable but not essential.

Essential Criteria
- Ability to work 5 days a week (term‑time only), Monday‑Friday 8:30–15:30.
- Right to work in the UK – sponsorship or skilled worker visa not accepted.
- Minimum two recent references covering the last two years.
- Up‑to‑date DBS/police check, or willingness to obtain one. (If you lack a Non‑Voluntary Enhanced DBS, you will be helped to process one at a cost of £62.70, refunded after 20 days of work.)
