These positions involve supporting students with a variety of additional needs, such as ASC, Down syndrome, ADHD and SEMH difficulties. We work with both mainstream and specialist schools, with opportunities to support pupils from early years through to secondary school.

Some roles will be 1:1 with a specific student, while others will involve more general classroom support. You will provide tailored assistance to help young people develop socially, emotionally and academically. Prior experience is welcome but not essential. We are looking for compassionate, adaptable individuals who are confident managing behaviour.

At Five Education, we welcome both experienced professionals and those new to education who are enthusiastic about making a difference. You will be supported throughout your placement with training opportunities such as Team Teach, PMLD Awareness and Makaton, along with ongoing guidance from your dedicated consultant – Kate (that’s me!).

Main Responsibilities

  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups by making the curriculum accessible and engaging
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of students, including at break and lunch times
  • Helping students develop social skills and self-regulation
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCo and other staff to address individual needs

Essential Criteria

  • Able to work 5 days a week (term time only), Monday–Friday 8:30–15:30
  • Right to work in the UK — we CANNOT accept sponsorship or a skilled worker visa
  • Minimum two recent references, covering the last two years
  • Up-to-date DBS/police check, or willingness to obtain one

Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
