Five Education are looking for an In-Class Support Assistant in Taunton. As a Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with identified children and young people, encouraging them to learn and challenge themselves in their learning in the classroom.

You would need to be able to support children with the range of special educational needs including learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), sensory, speech and language impairments and behavioural difficulties. They will need extra help in the lessons and at break and lunchtimes.

You will need to be an excellent motivator and be willing to persevere to help children raise their self-esteem and learn new skills. Experience is not necessary, but a can-do attitude, resilience and initiative are essential. You will need to be available during school hours: 8:30-15:30. This work is term-time only, the school prefers people who can offer 5 days a week, but they will consider people who can work a minimum of two days a week.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Supporting 1:1 in class and in outdoor activities
  • Help pupils to remain focused and regulated
  • Build strong relationships with the pupils and teaching staff to ensure that the pupils are achieving their full potential

Essential requirements

  • Right to work in the UK – we are unable to offer Sponsorship or accept Skilled Worker visas.
  • Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years).
  • Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
  • Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of Β£62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.

Pay

Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employer\’s NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
