Five Education require a behaviour mentor to work in a special school in Yeovil. You will be supporting a SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health needs) class, and working either with the whole class or 1:1.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Working alongside classroom teachers to support the behaviour of identified pupils
  • Assisting with inclusion activities
  • Assisting with the differentiation of lessons
  • Working 1:1 or with small groups with pupils who have a diagnosis of SEMH
  • Potentially working with small groups or in a 1:1 setting
  • Be flexible and willing to work with students outside the classroom, this school offers alternative education options including vocational subjects
  • Using de-escalation techniques to ensure pupils are calm and able to access the full range of education offered
  • Providing a positive role model for young people
  • Providing feedback and helping with assessments

Essential Criteria:

  • Patience, flexibility and dedication
  • Confident to support in KS3 and KS4
  • A calm demeanour
  • Good behaviour management skills
  • You will be able to demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
  • Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
  • Relevant DBS/Police checks
  • A valid Team Teach certificate isn’t essential but would be an advantage
  • Able to work 8.30-3.30
