Teaching Assistant – Calne
- Location: Calne (and surrounding Wiltshire areas)
- Contract: Full-time or part-time
- Pay: £89-£100 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)
The Role
We are looking for flexible and caring Teaching Assistants to work in and around Calne, supporting children and young people with additional needs in specialist school settings. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a background in special needs or care. You will support students with a range of needs, including Autism, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs, helping them to access learning and develop confidence and independence. Some students are non-verbal and others have physical disabilities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups to access learning
- Assist with communication, social interaction, and self-regulation
- Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff to deliver individualised support
- Promote inclusion and positive behaviour within the classroom
- Adapt to different school environments and pupil needs
- Support with personal care when needed
Essential Criteria:
- Experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable individuals (in schools, care, or community settings)
- A positive, patient, and empathetic approach
- Flexibility to travel to different schools in the Wiltshire area
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience supporting children with SEND
- Access to your own transport and willingness to travel to surrounding towns and villages
- Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g. Makaton, PECS)

Pay
Five Education operates a PAYE payroll – the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin charges or employer\’s NI. We are also proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer. Please note, pay rate is illustrative and includes holiday pay.
Vetting
Five Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants will undergo checks including reference and TRA checks. If you do not have a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, a new DBS will need to be processed at a cost of £62.70, refunded after 20 days of work and once registered to the update service.
