We are seeking a calm, compassionate, and highly committed Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil at a welcoming, inclusive, and forward-thinking primary school in Melksham. With supportive staff and excellent facilities, this school offers an inspiring environment in which to make a real impact.
This role centres on delivering consistent, individualised support that empowers the pupil to thrive in a nurturing, secure, and engaging learning environment. Full-time availability is preferred but not essential.
Main Responsibilities- Provide targeted one-to-one support tailored to the pupil's individual learning, social, and emotional needs.
- Build a trusting, positive, and motivational relationship to help the pupil develop confidence and make meaningful progress.
- Collaborate proactively with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement effective behaviour support and personalised learning strategies.
- Ensure the pupil always feels heard, understood, respected, and valued.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment where all learners can succeed.
- Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or in a similar support role.
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to behaviour, wellbeing, and learning.
- A strong commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality, child-centred support.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff and families.
- Right to work in the UK - we are unable to offer Sponsorship or accept Skilled Worker visas.
- Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years).
- Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
