An excellent, well-resourced special school in Yeovil is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant. You may have worked as a support worker, in-class support worker or a Learning Support Advisor (LSA) previously. You may have a related qualification or the ability to demonstrate relevant experience. You would be able to support children with a range of special educational needs including learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), sensory, speech and language impairments and behavioural difficulties.
The school has great feedback from parents and supply staff. The staff team are supportive and welcoming. The school is easily accessible by public transport. The school needs people who can commit to 5 days a week. If you are experienced and able to work full time this can be reflected in your rate of pay. You will need to be confident in adapting the lesson activity according to pupils' individual needs and in creating and maintaining a stimulating learning environment in which pupils can achieve and thrive.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Supporting 1:1 in class and in outdoor activities
- Help pupils to remain focused and regulated
- Build strong relationships with the pupils and teaching staff to ensure that the pupils are achieving their full potential
Essential Criteria:
- Be empathetic, kind and patient
- Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
- Two recent references, covering the last 2 years
- Relevant DBS/Police checks, or willing to obtain

The pay rate is £15.42* an hour. The day is 7 hours with an unpaid 30 min lunch break. Your daily rate of pay would be £100.30* but with a potential to earn more based on level of experience. *Including holiday pay.
