Five Education are currently recruiting adaptable, resilient, and compassionate education professionals to work across SEND specialist provision schools in the Taunton and Bridgwater area. These settings support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH, ADHD, learning difficulties, and complex needs. Due to fluctuating demand within schools, this is a flexible, demand-led role where your responsibilities may vary.

At times, you may be required to work as a Cover Supervisor, delivering pre-planned lessons and managing behaviour. During periods where cover demand is lower, you may work as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA, providing 1:1 support, leading interventions, or supporting within small classes. Pay will be adjusted accordingly, in line with the responsibilities of the role you are undertaking.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone confident in both classroom leadership and hands-on support roles within specialist SEND environments.

The role:

  • Delivering pre-set lessons and managing classroom behaviour as a Cover Supervisor
  • Providing 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, emotional regulation, and behavioural needs
  • Leading targeted interventions or small group sessions as an HLTA
  • Using calm, consistent approaches and de-escalation strategies
  • Promoting inclusion, safety, and positive engagement across the school day

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working in SEND, specialist provision, alternative provision, or similar settings
  • Confidence managing behaviour and leading a classroom when required
  • A calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent approach
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing school needs
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs

This is a rewarding opportunity to gain varied experience across specialist settings while making a meaningful difference to pupils who require consistency, understanding, and skilled support.

Essential requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK - we are unable to offer Sponsorship or accept Skilled Worker visas.
  • Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years).
  • Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.

Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.

What can Five Education offer you?

  • Free specialised training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, PMLD/SLD Awareness, Autism Awareness, and more.
  • Free DBS (refunded when you work 20 days)
  • Recommending a friend bonus scheme
  • Specialist support/mentoring while you are working

Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employer's NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.

Vetting: Five Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all of the staff we employ to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to undergo checks including reference checks, TRA checks and will need to have a DBS; there will also be an interview.
