Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers promptly: Approach and acknowledge customers immediately, providing assistance and handling multiple customers efficiently.
- Understand and meet customer needs: Share product knowledge, answer questions, direct customers to merchandise, and offer recommendations. Engage in suggestive selling and stay informed about product availability.
- Promote store events and promotions: Inform customers about current store events, promotions, and activities to enhance their shopping experience and drive sales.
- Resolve customer concerns: Address issues and use product knowledge to offer solutions, aiming to turn returns into exchanges when possible.
- Communicate needs to management: Keep management informed about merchandise restocking, service requirements, and customer feedback in a timely manner.
- Support team and company goals: Collaborate with the team to achieve store and company objectives, fostering a positive work environment.
Qualifications
- At least 16 years old
- Available to work a flexible schedule
- Comfortable with or willing to learn technology (cash registers, handheld and mobile devices)
- Good communication skills and ability to engage with customers
- Courteous and professional handling of customer interactions and concerns
- Basic information-gathering skills for problem-solving
- Ability to learn procedural knowledge through on-the-job training
Essential Job Functions
- Operate cash register frequently
- Move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs and handle items up to 5-10 feet high
- Ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and store stock
- Position self for kneeling, bending, twisting, and stooping, including in stock rooms and on the sales floor
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members face-to-face, by phone, and in writing
- Assist customers across the sales floor and in stock areas
- Work flexible hours including day, evening, weekend, overnight shifts, and travel if required
- Follow instructions regarding merchandise layouts, schedules, and procedures via email and print
- Remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time
