Five is at the forefront of European efforts to develop automated driving systems. Building on our heritage and unique experience as a pioneer in this space, we are taking what we have learned from conducting groundbreaking public road trials of autonomous vehicles to inform a robust safety assurance platform that helps tackle one of the industry's most complex challenges. Now, as part of Bosch Mobility, we are a global team building foundation model-based technology for autonomous driving.

Our expertise lies in developing state-of-the-art AI models, supporting robust, scalable products around them, and transforming research capabilities into practical solutions to accelerate the development of advanced features in autonomous driving systems.

Job Requirements
  • You will hold or be studying towards a Masters or PhD in computer vision, machine learning, or a closely related field.
  • You are a competent programmer, preferably in Python.
  • Experience with popular machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • You can work on a research paper, as the need arises.
  • A strong publication record in top-quality venues (e.g. CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, TMLR, SIGGRAPH, etc.) will strengthen your application.
  • You have excellent communication skills and enjoy working with other researchers and engineers.
Job Responsibilities

The position is within a global team working on building foundation models for autonomous driving, led by Dr. Puneet Dokania. We are a group of researchers and engineers working at the intersection of cutting-edge machine learning research and real-world autonomous driving, embedded within Bosch's broader mission to build the future of mobility. Our work is both scientifically rigorous and practically impactful.

We actively publish at top-tier venues including NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, and TMLR, while simultaneously building the core technologies that power driverless vehicles. As an intern, you will be part of this process with the opportunity to contribute to and co-author research publications.

We believe that the best research happens when people are genuinely excited about the problem they are working on. To that end, we are open to defining the project together with you based on your interests and background. Some example directions include, but are not limited to, building safe and accurate Vision-Language-Action models that connect perception, language understanding and vehicle control, and developing world models as closed-loop simulators that can evaluate and train autonomous driving systems at scale.

You can expect direct mentorship from experienced researchers and engineers, exposure to the full research cycle from idea to paper to real-world system.
