FitzRoy Supported Living Nottingham has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager or Senior Support Worker to join our well-trained and established staff teams, working alongside a strong, compassionate and positive leadership team across three services.

We provide person-centred support and are looking for someone who is ready for a challenge, can use their own initiative, think creatively and is passionate about helping people achieve positive outcomes.

About the Services

You will support the management of three very different services, each providing specialist support tailored to the needs of the people who live there:

Service One: Specialist Mental Health Service

This service supports people who are often stepping down from inpatient settings, residential care, or who may have experienced a deterioration in their mental health while living in the community or with family members. We support individuals with complex mental health conditions including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychosis, emotionally unstable personality disorder, eating disorders, anxiety and depression. Some people may present behaviours of concern or have a forensic background. We are looking for someone who sees the person, not the diagnosis.

Service Two: Dual Diagnosis Service

This service consists of four homes and two self-contained flats located within the same area. The people we support lead their own lives and direct their own support. The successful candidate will need to be flexible, creative and adaptable, supporting teams to deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment while promoting independence, wellbeing and community inclusion.

Service Three: Learning Disability Service

Our third service supports adults with learning disabilities to live independent and fulfilling lives within their local community. The focus is on enabling people to develop daily living skills, maintain meaningful relationships, access education, employment and leisure opportunities, and achieve their personal goals. We are looking for a leader who can champion person-centred support, promote choice and independence, and ensure the people we support have the best possible quality of life.

People may be supported under care and treatment orders or sections of the Mental Health Act, therefore knowledge and experience of working within relevant legislation would be advantageous.

As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Service Manager to ensure high standards of care, compliance and operational performance across all three services. You will support people to live fulfilled, happy lives whilst promoting independence, choice and control. You will also play a key role in supporting teams to deliver therapeutic, recovery-focused and person-centred support.

Outline of Responsibilities and Duties

Service Development

• Ensure person-centred approaches are in place to deliver the outcomes people want and support them to achieve their aspirations.
• Engage with the local community and promote the involvement of the people we support and FitzRoy's profile.
• Complete regular audits for quality, compliance and business performance, creating action plans where required.
• Contribute to annual business plans and achievement of agreed performance indicators.
• Provide a safe working environment for the people we support, staff members and visitors.

Team and Resource Management

• Recruit, develop and motivate staff members and volunteers.
• Ensure team members are effectively performance managed with clear expectations.
• Develop staff responsibilities that add value to the service and support professional development.
• Ensure rotas are effectively managed to meet the needs of the people we support.
• Support financial management and budget oversight across the services.
• Ensure records, reporting and administrative processes are maintained to a high standard.
• Ensure the people we support have a voice in their service and wider community.
• Promote meaningful involvement in decision-making and service development.
• Champion equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights.
• Build positive relationships with families, professionals and community partners.
• Support effective internal communication across teams and services.
• Drive continuous improvement through a strong customer focus.

About You

• Previous experience in the care sector.
• Experience supporting people with complex needs, mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities.
• Excellent IT and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to problem solve and manage competing priorities.
• Customer focused, resilient and highly motivated.
• Positive Behaviour Support knowledge and experience.
• PBS Level 4 qualification or willingness to undertake.
• NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
• Experience managing teams, compliance and quality standards within a supported living environment.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
