FitzRoy are recruiting Female Support Workers to join our Supported Living service in Abingdon, where you will support two adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs to live independent and fulfilling lives. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience supporting people with complex needs, including behaviours that may challenge, who is passionate about delivering person-centred, trauma-informed support.
About You
We are looking for experienced Support Workers or Healthcare Assistants who can demonstrate best practice when supporting people with:
- Autism
- Mental health needs
- Acquired brain injury
- Learning disabilities
- Trauma-related support needs
You will be a confident, resilient and adaptable individual who can provide flexible support that evolves alongside the needs of the people we support. Due to the needs of the people we support, this role is open to female applicants only. This is an occupational requirement in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
Vacancies Available
- Full-time contracts available (37.5 hours per week)
- Working a mixture of day shifts, waking nights and weekends
- £14.06 per hour for day shifts
- £14.48 per hour for waking night shifts
- 10% weekend enhancement
- Overtime rates payable for hours worked over 37.5 per week
- Time and a half or double time on public holidays
- Sleep-ins paid at £50.00 per night
- 30 days annual leave from your first day
What You Will Be Doing
No two days are the same. You will provide personalised support that promotes independence, wellbeing and choice. Your role will include:
- Delivering person-centred support tailored to individual needs
- Supporting people to access their local community and enjoy activities such as shopping, arts and crafts, bowling and swimming
- Assisting with personal care, including bathing and showering where required
- Building positive relationships and encouraging engagement in daily activities
- Supporting people during periods of anxiety or distress using positive and proactive strategies
- Working in line with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans
- Applying specialist training and support techniques to meet complex individual needs
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to support planning
There is a strong emphasis on supporting people with autism and mental health needs, so previous experience and confidence in these areas would be highly beneficial.
Shift Pattern
This service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will work a flexible rota covering a combination of:
- Day Shifts 07:00 – 14:30, 14:30 – 22:00
- Waking Night Shifts 22:00 – 07:00
Weekend and bank holiday working forms part of the rota. You will receive time off in the week when working weekends, ensuring a healthy work-life balance.
