Working closely with the COO, you will play a pivotal role in building and developing the finance function during an exciting period of UK and international growth. This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to shape finance processes, strengthen reporting, improve business performance and influence strategic decision-making across the business.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead The Method's finance function. This is a highly visible role within a fast-growing premium wellness business. As the finance function continues to evolve, you will take ownership of financial control, management reporting, forecasting and commercial analysis, whilst helping build the finance infrastructure required to support future UK and international expansion. Alongside ensuring excellent financial controls and day-to-day finance operations, you will partner closely with operational leaders, analyse revenue performance, develop financial models and identify commercial opportunities that support business growth. The successful candidate will be proactive, commercially curious and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where they can make a genuine impact from day one.
Key responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Commercial Finance
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reporting
- Build robust financial models and forecasting tools to support strategic decision-making
- Partner with operational teams to provide commercially focused financial insight
- Prepare annual budgets, rolling forecasts and financial performance analysis
- Analyse revenue streams, membership performance and profitability to identify opportunities for improvement
- Financial Control & Compliance
- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations
- Maintain strong financial controls, governance processes and audit readiness
- Manage working capital and cashflow forecasting
- Prepare VAT returns, payroll and statutory financial reporting
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors and tax advisers
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Review and improve finance systems, reporting processes and internal controls
- Support automation and efficiency improvements across finance operations
- Develop KPI dashboards and management reporting
- Build scalable finance processes and reporting frameworks capable of supporting future international growth
- Business Partnering
- Work closely with founders and senior leadership to support commercial decision-making
- Partner with operational teams to improve financial performance across the business
- Provide financial insight into new site openings, international expansion and strategic initiatives
- Present financial analysis and recommendations to senior stakeholders
We are looking for a Finance Professional who:
- Has significant Financial Controller or senior finance experience within a growing SME or multi-site business
- Is ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
- Has strong experience within financial modelling, producing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial analysis
- Has experience building financial models and supporting commercial decision-making
- Has excellent knowledge of UK payroll, VAT and statutory reporting requirements
- Has experience improving financial processes, controls and reporting systems
- Is highly commercial with the ability to translate financial data into business insight
- Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys working closely with founders
- Is highly proactive, detail-oriented and able to work independently without close supervision
Desirable:
- An interest in, or exposure to, the fitness, wellness, hospitality, leisure or consumer sectors
- Has supported multi-site businesses
- Familiarity with international entities or multi-currency accounting
- Prior experience using Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar cloud accounting software
