Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Forklift Operator/Yard Operative role located in the London Area, United Kingdom. The role involves safely operating forklifts to load, unload, and move building materials within the yard and warehouse. Daily tasks include receiving and checking deliveries, organizing and storing materials, preparing orders for dispatch, and assisting with packing and loading customer collections. The Yard Operative will help maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area, follow company procedures, and use basic documentation or handheld systems for shipping and receiving. The role also includes providing courteous, professional assistance to customers and colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Forklift Operation skills and hold a valid forklift license or certification.
• Candidates should possess Shipping & Receiving skills, including checking documentation and verifying incoming and outgoing goods.
• Candidates should possess Unloading and Material Handling skills for safely moving, stacking, and storing building materials.
• Candidates should possess Packing skills to prepare orders securely and accurately for dispatch or collection.
• Candidates should demonstrate awareness of health and safety practices and safe manual handling techniques.
• Candidates should have basic numeracy and literacy skills to read labels, orders, and delivery notes accurately.
• Candidates should be able to work reliably in an outdoor/yard environment, sometimes in varying weather conditions.
• Previous experience in a builders merchant, warehouse, or logistics environment is beneficial but not essential.
