With significant investment across our club estate and an ambitious vision to lead the future of fitness, this is a brand beginning a bold new chapter.

And we're looking for positive, enthusiastic PTs who'd relish the chance to build with us.

At Fitness First, Personal Training has never been an afterthought. We see it as central to the credibility we're famed for and the reputation we've spent decades building.

Our PTs work in premium club environments alongside a team that takes fitness seriously, with access to industry-leading kit and a membership base that shows up for the goals they've committed to smashing.

We believe in choosing progress – for our members, for our brand and for the people who represent it. And that's why at Fitness First, we let you PT your own way.

Two models. One opportunity. You choose.

We've been doing this long enough to know that every PT is different.

Some are ready to hit the floor with a diary full of clients. Others want to build with a structure that supports them as they go.

Either way works for us – so we've created a new dual entry model that'll keep you growing and make Fitness First work just as hard for you.

Route 1: Self-Employed Personal Trainer

The full PT business model – built around your ambitions, your schedule and your clients.

This is the path for experienced senior PTs ready to run their own business within one of the UK's most iconic gym brands.

Whether you're bringing existing clients or simply want to get stuck in, you'll have the freedom to build, grow and sustain a base – with the support of a premium club environment and our expert team behind you.

What you'll get

  • A smooth 6-month rent build to get your business established without the pressure
  • A self-employed structured onboarding journey
  • Branded PT profile across in-club screens, the FF website and app – so members can find and contact you directly
  • Lead generation through able, our smart training technology – connecting you with members who are ready to lock in
  • Access to our digital marketplace
  • Weekly 1-to-1 business support with your Fitness Manager
  • Ongoing coaching development through our education team
  • Complimentary club membership
  • Minimum 2 weeks rent free per year

Qualifications

  • REPS Level 3 Personal Training qualification (essential)
  • A proven ability to build and retain a client base
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and the drive to grow your own business
  • Strong communication skills and engaging, client-first personality
  • Commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for every client

Fitness First has been pioneering the way the UK trains for over thirty years.

We've always been one of the biggest names in the business.

But now, we're on a mission to remind people why.

Hybrid's the one for you.

In an industry first, you'll get the same smooth 6-month rent build and benefits as the full‑time self‑employed PT model – but this route supersets it with an employed offering of 2 x 5‑hour shifts a week.

Help run the club, teach classes, engage with members – all while building your profile, client base and additional revenue stream as you do it.

Some tips for your application 🫡

Showcase Your Expertise with a Stellar Portfolio:As you're applying for a freelance personal trainer role, make sure to create a portfolio that highlights your qualifications, certifications, and client success stories. Include before-and-after photos (with client consent, of course!) and testimonials to showcase your skills. Great visuals can say way more than words!

Tailor Your CV to Highlight Special Fitness Skills:When crafting your CV, focus on unique skills relevant to personal training, such as specific fitness techniques, nutrition knowledge, or experience with various training methodologies. Nail Your Rates and Availability in Your Application:Since you’re going freelance, be clear about your rates and availability upfront. How to prepare for a job interview at Fitness First

Showcase Your Unique Training Style

As a freelance personal trainer, it’s crucial to display your unique approach and training style during the interview. Prepare to share client success stories or transformations you've facilitated, and maybe even bring along a portfolio of client testimonials or progress photos to really let your skills shine.

Be Ready for a Practical Demonstration

Don’t be surprised if your interview at Fitness First includes a practical 'trial session' where you demonstrate your training techniques. Make sure to brush up on your training drills and think about how you adapt workouts to different client needs. This is your chance to show them how you connect with clients and tailor sessions!

Discuss Your Client Acquisition Strategy

As a freelancer, it’s not just about training; you also need to attract clients. Be prepared to discuss your strategies for building and maintaining a client base. Whether you use social media, word of mouth, or personal branding, show them you have a solid plan for driving your business forward.

Know Your Rates and What You Offer

Freelancing means you’ll be setting your own rates, so be ready to discuss your pricing strategy confidently. Highlight what unique services you provide, like specialised training plans or nutrition advice, which justify your rates. Knowing your worth will show Fitness First you’re serious about your freelance career!
