About The Role

The Fitch Tech and Data team is looking for a Senior Director, Frontier Tech Lead to accelerate how we discover, evaluate, and adopt transformative technologies. As the Lead, your role will be to keep Fitch fully aware of the latest emerging technologies and their potential impact. You'll be equal parts strategist, technologist, evangelist, and entrepreneur—with the autonomy to shape something new and the accountability to make it matter for the enterprise.

What You’ll Build

  • Technology Radar: Systematic horizon scanning across AI/ML, quantum, blockchain, and beyond. Your focus will be to track the latest trends before they become mainstream. You'll build the process that turns noise into signal—publishing assessments that shape emerging technology decisions across Fitch.
  • Hot‑Takes / Quick Trials: Lead the team on quick trials (including hands‑on work), rapid understanding of the latest emerging technologies with rapid turn‑around.
  • Communications Hub: Demo days, playbooks, and knowledge sharing that makes the work accessible and actionable for the entire enterprise.
  • External Ecosystem: Relationships with model providers, cloud vendors, startups, and academia to stay abreast of the latest advancements.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Systematically share the knowledge through various channels including presentations and hands‑on demonstrations.

What You’ll Do

  • Recruit and lead a small team of technologists who thrive on ambiguity and move fast.
  • Publish technology perspectives that inform strategy—not just 'what's new' but 'what it means for Fitch' across Emerging Technologies (AI/ML, Blockchain, Knowledge Graph, Quantum Computing, AR/VR).
  • Hands‑on testing of cutting edge capabilities and provide rapid views.
  • Evangelize relentlessly—demo days, lightning talks, executive briefings that build momentum and demand to share the latest capabilities.
  • Partner with different teams across Tech and Data and businesses to help share the knowledge.
  • Navigate ambiguity with confidence—making decisions with incomplete information and course‑correcting quickly.

Who You Are

  • You're technically deep but strategically minded. You can prototype with the best engineers and present to the C‑suite the same afternoon.
  • You understand AI/ML, cloud architecture, and emerging tech at a hands‑on level—but you also see the bigger picture.
  • You have relentless curiosity. You're already tracking what Anthropic, OpenAI, and the open‑source community are shipping.
  • You have opinions on what's hype versus what's real.
  • You communicate with clarity and conviction. Complex technical concepts become compelling narratives in your hands.
  • You can sell a vision and bring people along.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in technology roles with increasing scope and leadership.
  • Track record of building something new—a product, a team, or a capability.
  • Deep hands‑on experience with AI/ML, cloud platforms, and other emerging technologies.
  • Experience conducting technology evaluations, vendor assessments, and build‑vs‑buy analyses.
  • Experience in financial services, credit/risk, or regulated industries (preferred but not required).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and build coalitions across organizational boundaries.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
