Overview
In this role you will help build Fitch's semantic layer and ontologies to standardise data across the enterprise. You will collaborate with data governance and business SMEs to scale semantic modelling and ensure consistent domain concepts. You will translate business terminology into governed models and work with senior stakeholders to measure adoption impact. This is a high-visibility opportunity to shape how data semantics enable decision-making and AI-ready data products across the group.
Responsibilities
- Support the build-out of the semantic layer and ontology capability from a high-value use case to organisation-wide practice
- Design and maintain core and domain ontologies with business SMEs and data product owners
- Partner with data product owners to align data products with AI-ready data principles
- Collaborate with Data Governance to embed semantic mapping in the data product registration process
- Define modelling standards, formats, and tooling to enable portability of semantics across platforms
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leads, translating business terminology into governed semantic models
- Define success criteria for semantic layer adoption and guide investment decisions
Key requirements
- 4-6 years of relevant experience with hands-on metadata management, ontologies, or semantic layers
- Experience translating ambiguous tribal knowledge into structured, governed models
- Strong judgement on data or knowledge model quality
- Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently with competing priorities and minimal supervision
