BRM Corporates & Infrastructure is currently seeking a Relationship Manager for its Direct Lending and Private Debt (Private Credit) Team based in London Canary Wharf office. The role is within the Business & Relationship Management (BRM) group in London, reporting to the Head of EMEA Direct Lending & Private Debt, BRM.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Promote Fitch Ratings’ capabilities to private credit market participants, generating new rating‑related business and revenues.
- Develop and grow Fitch’s private rating book across corporate and infrastructure verticals.
- Market to and outreach IG/Leveraged Finance law firms as influencers in the rating decision process, ensuring legal community support for Fitch Ratings’ use.
- Develop new and existing relationships with leading EMEA high‑yield investors, primarily at portfolio manager level, to increase advocacy for Fitch.
- Maintain a target list of investors and potential clients, coordinate outreach and sales activity across the EMEA region.
- Maintain a tiering system of the most active legal advisors and private debt managers, mapping relationships with HY investors.
- Undertake an active outreach programme to new and prospective mandating parties.
- Produce and maintain bespoke analysis and pitch‑book material for engagement with parties, highlighting Fitch’s rating benefits.
- Engage with corporate relationship managers and analytical colleagues on target names, and interact with senior lawyers, HY portfolio managers, and private debt managers during mandate discussions.
- Educate parties on the Sustainable Future Fitch ESG ratings offering through sector teach‑ins.
- Support relationship development with senior lawyers who influence documentation and issuer/banker relationships, and with the larger active investors in the HY market in EMEA.
- Help develop initiatives and joint events with top law firms or private debt firms, promoting Fitch participation as panel speakers.
- Collaborate with industry bodies such as ICMA, AFME, LMA, and ELFA to promote Fitch Ratings.
- Identify and develop new rating business opportunities across the private credit market.
- Record and disseminate client outreach using Salesforce.
- Undertake contract renewals, fee discussions, and negotiations.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in debt capital markets, understanding of the ratings process, leveraged finance, high‑yield, and/or private equity markets; ideally with a credit or market‑related background from a rating agency, sell‑side bank, or buy‑side investor firm.
- Ability to establish and develop a network of contacts across banking, investor, and legal communities, engaging senior/key decision‑makers and influencers confidently.
- Awareness of leveraged finance, debt capital markets, private markets, and/or corporate M&A covering IG and sub‑IG transactions.
- Experience interacting with issuers and investors, capable of engaging comfortably and building trust for two‑way information flow.
- Strong collaboration skills, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Capability to develop relevant ideas and analysis into marketable outcomes.
- Motivation to deliver high‑quality, consistent work on time.
- Proven track record of persuading and negotiating effectively with resistant counterparties.
- Demonstrable ability to originate new business and close deals.
- University degree, preferably in a business‑related discipline; professional or business qualification (e.g., MBA, relevant legal qualification) is an advantage.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of Bloomberg, Salesforce and Fitch product range is an advantage.
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel.
