We are looking for a Principal Machine Learning or AI Engineer to join the Fitch Group Emerging Technology AI Center of Excellence. The role will be based out of our London or Manchester office and involves building and supporting Generative AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Data Science solutions across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with product squads to build, integrate, and deploy GenAI, multi‑AI‑Agents and data science solutions.
- Design and spearhead the development of Gen AI, AI Agents and MLOps platforms, applications, and solutions to address business challenges.
- Build standards and recommendations for the AI engineering tech stack and data science models across different enterprise AI use cases.
- Collaborate with AI implementation, governance and enterprise architecture squads to apply appropriate standards.
- Keep abreast of the latest vendors in emerging technologies and participate in vendor evaluations and tool assessments; onboard appropriate solutions into the platform.
- Effectively communicate advanced data science/ML concepts in simple language to business stakeholders.
- Develop and deploy machine learning and GenAI solutions to support experimentation and innovation; collaborate with data scientists to identify innovative solutions.
- Design scalable solutions and GenAI/ML workflows that leverage machine learning, GenAI and deep learning models to meet enterprise requirements.
- Actively participate in maintaining SLAs for production applications and support.
- Create metrics to continuously evaluate performance of machine learning models, testing, source version control, optimization.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of work experience as an ML or AI engineer.
- Strong proficiency in production‑quality Python (and Java optional).
- Deep understanding of agentic AI systems and multi‑agent architectures.
- Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning algorithms including NLP, neural networks, multiclass classification, decision trees, support vector machines.
- Strong adherence to software and ML development fundamentals (code quality, automated testing, CI/CD).
- Experience building Gen AI frameworks and fine‑tuning LLMs.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS.
- Knowledge of cloud computing services (AWS Bedrock, S3, SageMaker, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure Blob Storage).
- Master's degree or above in machine learning / data science / computer science / applied mathematics or related research‑based field.
- Prior experience developing production quality Python is essential.
