Software Engineer, Full-Stack Applications Credit Module – London. Fitch Ratings is seeking a Software Engineer – Full-Stack Applications to join our global technology team in London. This role involves building mission-critical applications that power how a world-leading credit ratings agency delivers insights, with code that directly impacts analysts, executives, and decision-makers who shape global financial markets. You will work with Java/Spring Boot and React, exploring how AI and emerging technologies can transform analytical workflows. The role offers autonomy to innovate, access to advanced tools including AI-powered development resources, and a learning-first culture that values curiosity and growth.
The initial assignment will be to develop and maintain CreditModule, our strategic analytical platform that empowers Credit analysts to rate issuers and financial instruments efficiently. This application already supports hundreds of analysts in production and is scaling to revolutionize Fitch\\\’s delivery of insights across business lines by replacing legacy tools.

What You Need To Have
- Proven full-stack engineering expertise: 5+ years building enterprise applications, with strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, React, and modern web technologies in production.
- Solid technical foundation: Deep understanding of software development principles, design patterns, architectural best practices, data structures, algorithms, and the ability to produce maintainable, testable, scalable solutions.
- Bachelor\’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and collaboration skills: Meticulous attention to detail, strong communication, and proven team collaboration with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
What Would Make You Stand Out
- DevOps proficiency: Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines enabling rapid, reliable deployments.
- Cloud expertise: Hands-on knowledge of AWS or Azure, particularly with microservices and cloud-native development.
- Agile mastery: Track record of delivering value in Scrum or Kanban environments with cross-functional teams.
- AI/ML curiosity or experience: Interest in machine learning, generative AI, NLP, or intelligent automation technologies.
- Financial services background: Familiarity with lending workflows, regulatory processes, financial products, credit ratings, and financial analysis.
