Fitch Group is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack based out of our London office. Fitch Group Technology has a number of agile teams that deliver world-class innovative solutions to Fitch Group internal and external customers. This position will be within one of our agile teams delivering software products for our BMI business. BMI Analytics is an AI-driven data and technology company that fuses political science and computer science to measure and predict political risk with unprecedented accuracy. Our core technology is a proprietary suite of real-time indicators and predictive analytics available via web application, custom dashboards and API. Clients include asset managers, multinationals, insurance companies and government entities.

Well Count On You To:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in back-end technologies for enterprise-scale websites and applications.
  • Work as part of an agile team in design, development, debugging, and deployment efforts while addressing security, cross-browser and cross-platform expectations and concerns.
  • Understand the importance of design best practices, provide effective translation to code artifacts and implement appropriate integration approach for API/data layer.
  • Partner with Product Owner and stakeholders to understand business needs, define and develop applications/architecture, design, review, implement and optimize Engineering processes.
  • Build data expertise and a deep understanding of business domain knowledge and own data quality for allocated areas of ownership.
  • Maintain and enhance microservices based components for the application suite.
  • Recommend, create and maintain development best practices and guidelines to be used across various applications.
  • Write automated unit, integration, performance and visual regression test cases.
  • Promote, implement, and evolve development best practices especially on commits, versioning and dependency management.

What You Need To Have:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing distributed application architecture of moderate-to-high complexity.
  • 3+ years of experience in Ruby On Rails and/or NodeJS (for Backend development).
  • 3+ years of experience in designing and developing scalable web applications using modern front-end frameworks such as React/TypeScript.
  • 3+ years of experience in relational databases - managing and understanding data pipelines, data storage & management, schema design, etc (e.g. Oracle/Postgres/MySql).
  • Exposure of using AI coding assistants for software development like Copilot, ChatGPT, Amazon Q, etc.
  • Experience in creating modern applications using Microservices-based architecture.
  • Expertise in modern package management, build and test frameworks (e.g. NPM, Yarn, Webpack, Jest).
  • Experience with build and deployment pipelines including frontend build and deployment using GIT and npm.
  • Experience working in high-performance teams using Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Exposure to AWS infrastructure like S3 storage, Route 53, CloudFront.
  • Experience with other languages like Java/Python.
  • Experience with MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch.
