About the role
Lead daily operations in our state-of-the-art manufacturing workshop specialising in joinery, metalwork, powder coating, asset refurbishment, and bespoke fit-out components. Drive safe, efficient, high-quality production to support Fit Out UK projects and PRL Logistics supply chain, hitting targets while controlling costs and upholding ISO/UK compliance standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and supervise daily shop floor operations to meet schedules and deadlines
- Lead, motivate, and manage supervisors, operators, technicians, and skilled trades teams
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety, quality standards (ISO 9001), and regulations (COSHH, PUWER)
- Monitor and optimise output, OEE, downtime, material usage, and wastage
- Coordinate with maintenance, quality, planning, procurement, and logistics teams
- Implement lean improvements, 5S, Kaizen to boost productivity and cut costs
- Oversee machinery/tools upkeep, especially joinery, fabrication, and coating equipment
- Handle shift planning, manpower allocation, attendance, training, and performance management
- Produce daily/weekly reports, KPIs, and performance dashboards
Essential skills & experience:
- 5–10 years in manufacturing/production (joinery, metal fabrication, powder coating, or fit-out preferred)
- 2–3+ years in supervisory/managerial shop floor role leading teams
- Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills
- Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing, quality systems, and health & safety practices
- Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making in fast-paced environments
Qualifications:
- Diploma/Bachelor’s in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
- Technical/lean certifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, Six Sigma) desirable
