Fit Out UK is looking for an experienced Electrical Pre-Construction Manager (or strong Electrical Project Manager ready to step into pre-con) to take ownership of the pre-construction phase on high-value retail fit-out and commercial projects. You will shape projects from tender/enquiry through to a clean, risk-managed handover to the delivery team — ensuring technical excellence, commercial robustness and programme certainty.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full pre-construction process from enquiry to project handover
- Review client requirements, drawings, specifications and contract documents
- Identify technical, commercial and programme risks and put clear mitigation in place
- Coordinate design development with consultants, specialist subcontractors and the client team
- Produce detailed programmes, resource plans and construction methodologies
- Ensure full compliance with BS 7671, Building Regulations, health & safety legislation and client standards
- Coordinate surveys, investigations and enabling works
- Liaise with statutory authorities and utility providers
- Prepare and present high-quality pre-construction reports and recommendations to senior management and clients
- Deliver a smooth, complete handover pack to the delivery/project management team
- Support business development through client meetings, bid support and tender presentations
What We’re Looking For
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services (LV distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, power, controls, data, security systems)
- Proven experience as an Electrical Pre-Construction Manager, Electrical Estimator or Senior Electrical Project Manager within retail fit-out, commercial fit-out or building services
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Electrical Pre-Construction and 3 years in Retail Fit-Out (required)
- Excellent commercial awareness and risk management skills
- Strong planning, procurement and programme management experience
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management / planning software
- Solid knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and current Building Regulations
