Fit Out UK is a leading contractor specialising in high-profile interior fit out projects for blue-chip clients in retail, hospitality, banking, and commercial sectors across the UK. We are expanding our commercial team and seeking a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in London or Kent.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor or junior QS to gain hands-on experience in fast-paced fit out projects, working closely with Estimating, Buying, Contract Management, and site delivery teams. You will support the full project lifecycle using industry tools like COINS ERP.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and ensure tenders, quotations, and estimates are fully compliant with client requirements and reflect agreed schedules of rates.
- Obtain approvals and coordinate non-standard tenders/quotations through the Estimating Team.
- Maintain accurate project data in COINS (including addresses, programme dates, project value, and margin).
- Compile and update weekly commercial tracker and forecast reports for line manager review.
- Prepare monthly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliation), review thoroughly, and close completed projects promptly in COINS.
- Verify Purchase Order coverage before start on site (SOS).
- Assist in subcontractor and supplier selection, procurement, issuing orders in COINS, and updating for variations.
- Coordinate with Buyers and Contract Managers for accurate ordering of plant, materials, and quantities aligned with project scope.
- Review and approve requisition forms.
- Submit external valuations on time to support positive monthly cash flow.
- Prepare and submit accurate timelines with required sign-offs.
- Issue PCNs (Provisional Change Notices) within timeframes, reflecting completed work against PO values.
- Capture, document, price, and obtain approval for variations before proceeding.
- Support timely final account submissions (with prior approval), ensuring costs, target margins, and accurate logging in COINS.
- Degree, HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field (or working towards).
- Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, junior QS, or in construction/fit out (advantageous – open to graduates and early-career professionals).
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with COINS or similar construction ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proactive mindset with eagerness to learn in a client-focused, high-volume environment.
